CU Exposed Event Case Study

Computers Unlimited (CU) is one of the largest specialist IT distributors in the UK. CU sources computer software and hardware products worldwide and supplies more than 2,500 resellers throughout the UK and Europe. Well-known for its focus on the professional creative, iPod, Apple and home entertainment markets, CU has carefully built a ‘best of breed’ range of software and hardware products, sourced from more than 80 leading manufacturers and publishers, including market leaders such as; Adobe, Apple, Microsoft, Epson, Quark, Wacom and Sonos.
Campaign Goals
-Organise an exclusive event in the form of a mini-expo called CU Exposed to showcase the hottest consumer IT gadgets and technology from CU vendors.-Propose an event that would gain interest from high profile CU vendors such as Parrot, Sonos and Adobe.
-Work to a specified budget.
-Arrange the event to incorporate separate time slots for trade representatives and journalists.
-Invite and confirm attendance from over 50 top consumer technology journalists.
-In addition, over 200 UK and European resellers would be attending.
-Provide a channel for CU vendors to introduce new products to the UK market.
-Ensure 'CU Exposed' is a success both with vendors and the media, so that it becomes a bi-annual event. -Highly successful event at Altitude 360 in the heart of Westminster, attended by over 70 key journalists, spanning national, broadcast, consumer technology and online press.
-Over 25 exhibitors attended including Sonos, Scosche, B&W, Tech21 and Eye-Fi. In addition, over 70 trade representatives attended.
-Provided an environment for CU vendors to build a relationship with key UK and European resellers and UK press. -Coverage generated for vendors within media including News of the World, Cnet, MacWorld and Computer Shopper.
Due to the success of CU Exposed, the next event is confirmed for March 2010.
I must admit, my reason for attending the show was primarily to meet Simon and see Eye-fi in action, but it was so much more worthwhile than that alone. I would definitely like to attend again next year :)
